By far one of the prettiest spots on the North Coast, Sosua is situated on a breathtaking Caribbean bay spotted with white sand beaches, rock formations and luxurious homes and resorts.
Featuring a mix of all-inclusives and luxury boutiques, the town offers a range of activities to fit any visitor. This once sleepy fishing village is now a top tourist destination as evidenced by the wealth of bars, restaurants and shops that line its streets. Despite this, Sosua has hung onto a small town charm that is all its own.
SNORKELING AND DIVING
Located near Puerto Plata, Sosua offers some of the North Coast's best diving. Not only are these sites home to countless varieties of tropical fish and marine life, but whale sharks, manta rays, and dolphins have also been known to make an appearance in these waters. Shallow reefs allow beginners to get comfortable with diving and the underwater world, while more advanced dive sites are only minutes away. Among the most popular sites are Las Palmitas, the Airport Wall, Five Rocks, and La Pirámide.
Playa Sosua
Located on a crescent-shaped bay, Playa Sosua is a postcard perfect beach. Featuring a backdrop of towering cliffs, the waters here are calm, clear and a deep shade of turquoise. Playa Sosua is perhaps one of the Caribbean's most popular beaches, which may explain the crowds. However, with so much to do - shopping or eating in Sosua, snorkeling or even taking a glass bottom boat tour - the crowds are worth the visit.
Sosua est un petit village de la province de Puerto Plata, côte nord atlantique, en République dominicaine. Le pueblo est divisé en trois secteurs, El Batey qui est le secteur principal visité par les touristes, Los Charimicos qui est la plus pauvre des trois, et Sosua Abajo.
Comme toutes les villes de la côte de la République Dominicaine, Sosua est connue pour ses plages. Le sable y est fin et blanc, et la mer cristalline.
Le soir, de nombreux restaurants vous accueillent à El Batey et il existe de nombreux bars ouverts le soir avec de la musique ainsi que trois boîtes de nuit et un casino. Bref, tout à Sosúa est fait pour relâcher la pression, s'amuser, et se détendre dans un cadre typiquement dominicain.
Il y a aussi de nombreuses agences d'excursions qui pourront vous proposer des sorties de tout type.
Pour les amateurs de plongée, la Baie de Sosua est un endroit réputé, avec plus de 20 sites à découvrir et des clubs très professionnels, à prix raisonnables. De nombreux clubs de plongée se sont installés à Sosúa grâce à ses fonds marins remarquables.
