La Pointe-à-Pitre is a French commune located in the department of Guadeloupe. The city is at the center of a vast urban area. It has a population of 314,647 inhabitants. Since 2007, the city is the only sub-prefecture of Guadeloupe, Pointe-à-Pitre is also the capital of the Pointe-à-Pitre district.
