Trip to Providenciales
Providenciales is an island in the Turks and Caicos archipelago. For a long time, the island of Providenciales remained sparsely inhabited, and this due to the lack of potable water. Currently, with the development of its tourism, the island is populated. It has 32,118 inhabitants over an area of 98 km2. Thus, the island has an international airport to welcome tourists.
The Turks and Caicos Islands were discovered in 1512 by a Spaniard named Juan Ponce de Leon. They were inhabited by the Arawaks and the Kalinagos. The islands were officially attached to the Bahamas and then to Jamaica. But after the Bahamas gained independence, the island became a fully-fledged British overseas territory.
