Dover (Barbados)
A calm sea until nightfall, a full tide, a beautiful moon, this is one of the wonders that awaits you in Barbados. Dover Beach is located on the south coast of Barbados, in the parish of Christ Church, with Graeme Hall Nature Sanctuary, Accra Beach, and Needham's Point Lighthouse to the west. Maxwell Beach, Welches Beach and Oistins are to the east.
What awaits you
Located in the far south of the popular tourist area of St Lawrence Gap, the vibrant Dover district is home to many family-friendly hotels. A redevelopment project for the Dover Beach area, however, was completed over 15 years ago, including new beach facilities, food and vending kiosks, a boardwalk, lighting and hard landscaping work. So visitors who choose Dover Beach can now expect to find everything they need for a day at the beach. Next to the gorgeous stretch of soft golden sand are plenty of stalls selling everything from drinks, ice cream, sunscreen lotions, hats and t-shirts, as well as beach, swimming and diving, local crafts, jewelry, hair braids and other souvenirs. Picnic tables are scattered around the beach; beach chairs, umbrellas, and lounge chairs are available for hire; and there are toilets and showers.
Between sport and nightlife
If you are more of a spectator than a player, you can cross the beach road and head to the Dover playing fields where you can watch cricket and football matches. If you prefer something more invigorating, try the nightlife at The Gap, an area 1.3 kilometers from St Lawrence where you can find plenty of bars, restaurants and nightclubs. Here you will discover a variety of entertainment ranging from karaoke to live music.
