Travel in Thailand

Travel Thailand

Without a doubt one of the most beautiful travel destinations in the world, Thailand has so much to offer that one week is not enough. Indeed, we strongly advise you to book at least three weeks if you are planning a trip to Thailand because, we warn you, once you have set foot there, you will not want to leave. And for good reason: the country has some of the most beautiful beaches you will ever see in your life. Here are some of the most beautiful places to explore on your next trip to Thailand.

Ko Phi Phi Lee

The island of Ko Phi Phi Lee was not chosen as the site of director Danny Boyle's film The Beach for nothing. Indeed, located in the Phi Phi archipelago, this paradise destination has the best beaches in the world, including Maya Bay, precisely where the film starring Leonardo Di Caprio was shot. A single picture will be enough to convince you to visit this seaside resort on the Andaman Sea, one of the most turquoise bodies of water in the world.

The beach is particularly famous for the limestone cliffs that surround it, adding even more charm to the place that became a prime tourist destination after the movie The Beach appeared in 2000. It goes without saying that the beach is a must-see if you go to Thailand!

Ko Pha-Ngan and Its Festive Atmosphere

Here, the beach parties that continue till dawn are the number one attraction. One of the country's most popular parties, the Full Moon Party, is held on the island during the full moon of every month and is probably one of the most extravagant party experiences that you will experience in your lifetime. If you have the chance to attend one of these parties, don't miss it! Between 10,000 and 30,000 people attend each month and it is also one of the main tourist attractions in Thailand.

Other Festivals

Many other festivals attract the attention of revellers on the island of Ko Pha-Ngan, such as the Half Moon Party, the Blackmoon Culture, and the Jungle Experience. In short, everything on the island is oriented towards ensuring you have an unforgettable time during your trip to Thailand.

Phuket

If you had only one place to go in Thailand – actually two if you count Maya Beach of the Phi Phi archipelago – Phuket, and especially the island of Phuket, the largest stretch of land in the Andaman Sea, would undoubtedly figure as the premier must-see destination in Thailand, if only for the beauty of its coastline, which is breathtaking.

Accessible by air from Bangkok, the capital, Phuket is one of the most popular travel destinations in the world. People go there to swim in the endless stretches of turquoise waters, to party into the small hours of the morning, to explore mangroves, and also to see exotic animals.

If there is indeed a paradise on earth, then it is surely Phuket, whose splendid beaches and rocky shores look upon large expanses of inviting turquoise waters.

Phuket was the site of the 2004 tsunami that struck a number of countries bordering the Indian Ocean, including western Thailand. While there remains no trace of the catastrophe, the place fascinates thousands of curious who are attracted to it to learn more about the most destructive tsunami in history.

Bangkok

You cannot utter the words “trip to Thailand” without thinking of visiting Bangkok, the capital. More than just a place of transit, cosmopolitan Bangkok is overflowing with activities and places to visit to learn more about the country's culture.

Like a number of other major world cities, Bangkok has everything a person could want to have fun: Thai restaurants, trendy bars, endless markets, cinemas, theatres, etc. However, it stands out for its unique architecture and its many Buddhist temples and monuments, including the Grand Palace, which houses many monuments with golden domes and spectacular architectural styles, such as the Wat Phra Kaew, which includes the representation of the Emerald Buddha, the most coveted in the country.

Thai Cuisine

Finally, it's not just the white sandy beaches that you need to experience in Thailand. Thai cuisine, which is one of the most succulent and renowned in the world, with its flavors and various spices, will make your mouth water. Coriander, curry, mint, and red basil are some of the spices regularly used to enliven and enhance the flavour of Thai dishes: noodles with meat and chopped vegetables, fried rice, pork with vegetables, sweet and sour soup with pork, and chicken stir-fried with basil, garlic, and red peppers are just some of the succulent dishes you must try during your trip to Thailand.

An Elephant Ride

Finally, it would be unthinkable to imagine travelling to Thailand without dreaming of a ride on the back of an elephant. That's all for the best, because many parts of Thailand – Chiang Mai, Phang Nga Bay, and Krabi – allow you the chance to climb on the back of this giant mammal. They are also wonderful destinations in their own right. In some places, you can not only ride an elephant, but also bathe with them in natural lakes, allowing you to live a more authentic experience.
