Cayo Cruz

Cayo Cruz is a cayo on the island of Cuba at the level of the Caribbean Islands. It is part of the Del Rey Gardens and is an hour from Cayo Coco Airport. It is a popular destination with its water sports and deep sea fishing.

History

Cayo Cruz forms with the islands Cayo Guillermo and Cayo Coco the Jardines Del Rey archipelago or the king's gardens. This archipelago was named Jardines Del Rey by explorer Diego Velázquez in 1513 or 1514. The name of the King's Garden was thus given to the archipelago in honor of King Ferdinand the Catholic. The archipelago also has other seaside islands such as Cayo Santa Maria, Cayo Las Brujas and Cayo Ensenachos.

Culture

Like Cuba, the official language of Cayo Cruz is Spanish. However, it is also a very popular destination for Quebecers, so it will be possible for Quebecers to converse in French with certain people, for example those who work in the seaside resort. English is also a language used in other cities.
