Club Med in Africa and the Middle East at a glance

For the 2026-2027 season, Club Med operates four resorts in Africa: Marrakech la Palmeraie in Morocco, open year-round, Djerba la Douce in Tunisia and Cap Skirring in Senegal, open seasonally, and the brand-new South Africa Beach & Safari, opened in July 2026 on the KwaZulu-Natal coast, with an optional safari lodge. Yasmina, in northern Morocco, is closed for an eighteen-month renovation and is due to reopen in summer 2028. In the Middle East, the first resort, Club Med Musandam, is announced in Oman. From Marrakech to the South African bush, these are very different trips that do not suit the same families.

Which Club Med resorts are open in Africa?

Marrakech la Palmeraie is open year-round, in the heart of the palm grove, about twenty minutes from the airport. Djerba la Douce, on the Tunisian island of Djerba, closes from October 31, 2026 to April 3, 2027. Cap Skirring, in Casamance, southern Senegal, reopens on October 18, 2026 and closes on May 8, 2027. The South Africa Beach & Safari resort has welcomed guests since July 4, 2026, at Tinley Manor, on the north coast of KwaZulu-Natal, about thirty minutes from Durban airport.

What is the South Africa Beach & Safari stay?

It is Club Med's first resort in South Africa, with about 400 rooms, an Exclusive Collection area and kids' clubs from 4 months. You can book the beach alone, with day safari outings, or add a few nights at the Vikela Safari Lodge, near Pongola, in an 18,000-hectare private reserve home to Africa's Big Five. The lodge is reserved for Club Med guests, open to children aged 4 and over and located about four and a half hours by road from the resort. For a Quebec family, it is a rare way to combine sea and bush in the same all-inclusive formula.

Marrakech or Djerba?

Marrakech la Palmeraie is about the city and the desert: you combine the pool and the riad with the medina's souks and excursions to the Atlas. The resort has an Exclusive Collection area, the Riad, and a Family Oasis, with Baby Club Med from 4 months. Djerba la Douce is about the beach: a kilometre of golden sand lined with palm trees, twenty hectares of palm grove and a spa, about thirty minutes from the airport. For a first trip to North Africa with children, Djerba is simpler. For a week mixing culture and rest, Marrakech wins.

Which resort is best with young children?

Marrakech la Palmeraie, Djerba la Douce and South Africa Beach & Safari offer Baby Club Med from 4 months and Petit Club Med for ages 2 and 3, at extra cost, followed by clubs for ages 4 to 17 included in the package. Cap Skirring requires every guest to be at least 2 years old and only runs clubs for teenagers. The Vikela Safari Lodge only accepts children aged 4 and over. With a toddler, Marrakech and Djerba remain the simplest choices.

Who is Club Med Cap Skirring for?

Cap Skirring suits couples, golfers and families with teenagers. The resort sits among the coconut palms of Casamance, with a golf course lined with palm trees, and guests set off by pirogue on the bolongs, the sea channels winding through the mangrove. It is a wilder, slower Africa than Marrakech. Access is via Dakar, and your advisor will tell you the routing for the season.

When should you go?

Marrakech can be visited all year, but summer months are very hot. Djerba is at its best in spring and autumn, and closes in winter. Cap Skirring's season runs from late October to early May, during the dry season. In South Africa, the seasons are reversed: our winter is their summer, and the dry austral winter, from May to September, is often sought after for safaris. Your advisor matches your dates with each resort's season.

How do you get there from Montreal?

Morocco is the most accessible destination: Montreal has non-stop flights to Casablanca and, depending on the season, to Marrakech. For Djerba and Cap Skirring, expect a connection through Europe, Tunis or Dakar. For South Africa, you reach Durban after one or two connections in Europe or the Middle East. Your advisor builds the full routing, books transfers with the package and, for South Africa, the trip between the beach and the lodge.

What about Yasmina and Agadir?

Two Moroccan addresses still listed on travel sites cannot be booked today. Yasmina, on the Mediterranean coast near Tetouan, is closing for an eighteen-month renovation and is due to reopen in summer 2028. Agadir closed permanently in 2021, after more than fifty years of operation. For Morocco, Marrakech la Palmeraie is therefore the only Club Med address on sale until then.

What is coming in the Middle East?

Club Med has announced its first resort in the Middle East, Club Med Musandam, in Oman, on a peninsula of mountains plunging into the sea. The opening date, first mentioned for 2028, is now cited for 2029 in the trade press. Your advisor will keep you posted as soon as bookings open.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Vikela Safari Lodge is sold as an extension of a few nights combined with a stay at the South Africa Beach & Safari resort, not as a standalone stay. The lodge is near Pongola, in an 18,000-hectare private reserve, about four and a half hours by road from the resort. It welcomes children from age 4. Your advisor helps you split your nights between the beach and the bush.
The South Africa Beach & Safari resort welcomed its first guests on July 4, 2026, at Tinley Manor, on the north coast of KwaZulu-Natal, about thirty minutes from King Shaka airport in Durban. It has about 400 rooms and an Exclusive Collection area. It is the country's first Club Med, and the first to combine a beach stay and a safari lodge in the same formula.
Yes. Marrakech la Palmeraie is open year-round, unlike Djerba and Cap Skirring. Summer in Marrakech is very hot, however, and many families prefer spring, autumn or winter, when days are mild and excursions to the Atlas are more pleasant. The resort has a Family Oasis and an Exclusive Collection area, the Riad, for those who want more calm.
Djerba la Douce closes from October 31, 2026 to April 3, 2027 according to Club Med's calendar, because the Tunisian winter is too cool for swimming. Its best seasons are spring and autumn, when the heat stays pleasant. For winter sun in the same region, Marrakech la Palmeraie stays open, but for the beach in January, the Caribbean resorts are a better choice.
From age 2, but the resort only runs clubs for teenagers. Cap Skirring therefore suits couples, golfers and families with older children best. Families with young children who want Africa should choose Marrakech la Palmeraie, Djerba la Douce or South Africa Beach & Safari, which offer Baby Club Med from 4 months.
Yasmina, on Morocco's Mediterranean coast near Tetouan, is closing for an eighteen-month renovation and is due to reopen in summer 2028, according to Club Med. It cannot be booked for the coming season. For Morocco, Marrakech la Palmeraie is the only Club Med address on sale until then. Your advisor will let you know as soon as bookings reopen.
At the Vikela Safari Lodge, yes: the lodge is in an 18,000-hectare private reserve home to lion, leopard, elephant, rhino and buffalo. From the beach resort, day safari outings are also offered for those who do not want to spend nights in the bush. Nature remains unpredictable, but the lodge maximises your chances.
Entry requirements differ from one country to another and can change. For any stay in Morocco, Tunisia, Senegal or South Africa, a valid Canadian passport is essential, and its validity must often extend several months beyond your return. Your advisor checks the current formalities for your destination when you book, including for children.
Bolongs are the sea channels winding through the mangrove of Casamance, in southern Senegal. You explore them by traditional pirogue, to the rhythm of birds and fishing villages. It is one of the most distinctive experiences of the resort, which sits among coconut palms with a golf course lined with palm trees. The resort's season runs from late October to early May.
Club Med has announced Club Med Musandam, its first resort in the Middle East, on the Musandam peninsula in Oman. The opening date, first mentioned for 2028, is now cited for 2029 in the trade press, and Club Med has not yet opened bookings. Your advisor will keep you posted as soon as the date is confirmed and stays can be booked.
