Travel to Miami

Travel Miami

Miami is without a doubt one of the most beautiful vacation destinations in America, if not the entire world. With its skyscrapers that light up the night sky, its turquoise beaches that rival those of its Caribbean neighbours, as well as its many tourist attractions as pretty as a picture postcard, this most populous city in Florida is the perfect spot to spend your next vacation. Here are some things you need to know to enjoy a dream vacation in Miami.

Its Location

The city of Miami is blessed by its ideal location. Indeed, this cosmopolitan region of a thousand colours is located in the southeast of Florida, on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean, at the same longitude as Ecuador. The warm ocean current called the Gulf Stream passes close to its waters, ensuring that Miami benefits from a tropical climate all year round.

Its downtown is on Biscayne Bay, a turquoise lagoon 56 kilometres long and 13 kilometres wide, home to the islands of Miami Beach and the region of South Beach.

Its Beaches

One of the world's largest cruise ports, Miami is full of beautiful beaches and breathtaking bodies of water. One of his most well-known and popular beaches is Miami Beach, particularly South Beach, located along Ocean Drive close to Collins Avenue. South Beach is the perfect place to spend your next vacation in Miami.

You can rent a hotel right on the seashore, shop in renowned boutiques, and dine in upscale restaurants exploding with international flavours. The sand is fine and white and the water crystal clear and turquoise practically throughout the whole year.

In summer, temperatures can climb above 30 degrees Celsius, so it is very hot (bring your parasol!) while winters are a little more temperate (about 25 degrees), but still warm enough for sunbathing and taking the odd dip to cool off in the sea.

The other two beaches – Miami Beach and North Beach – are equally (if not even more) wonderful and offer the opportunity for tourists to tan themselves in an Edenic and enchanting setting.

Crandon Park Beach

Crandon Park Beach should also be on your lists of “musts” during your vacation in Miami. Known as one of the finest resorts in the United States, it extends for 3 kilometres of clear water and white sand. One can picnic, stroll through hiking trails, or kayak. Cabins are also available near the lagoon to allow families to protect themselves from the sun (at times very strong) or simply to rest.

Miami's Activities

As for leisure and entertainment, Miami does not lack tourist attractions. Indeed, besides its turquoise beaches, the city of Miami is known for its trendy avenues, imposing shopping centres, good restaurants, and, last but not least, nightlife. In the evening, the entire city is illuminated and the spectacle of the skyscrapers' lights alone is worth a visit.

Nightlife

Among the most popular places to party in Miami are the Brickell neighbourhood and its famous Blue Martini; Bayside, which is the port of embarkation for cruise ships, where you can drink a giant Mojito in a bar by the same name; and South Beach, with its unique Mango's Tropical Cafe.

Bohemian Coconut Grove, which is also very popular with tourists from around the world, is definitely worth visiting. At the famous Sandbar Sports and Grill, you can drink beer and eat tasty fish tacos for less than nothing.

The most spectacular attraction in Coconut Grove, if you have the money and you want to add another memorable from your trip to Miami: book a place on the rooftop terrace of the Mayfair Hotel and you will have access to stunning views Biscayne Bay.

Its Cruises

If you feel your trip to Miami is dragging on, consider booking a cruise. Indeed, the number of sea departures at this location ensures that you can book cruises at very attractive prices, particularly during the slow season.

Whether you are looking for a grand or a modest cruise, for a few days or several weeks, a Norwegian Cruise Line ship or with the Royal Caribbean Cruises, you'll have lots of choices for your cruise from Miami.

Art and Culture

At times, Miami will remind you of Cuba. The city also has a Cuban neighbourhood, Little Havana, that you will want to see at all costs, where Hispanic culture is everywhere.

The main artery of the district, called the “Calle Ocho,” is full of Cuban restaurants, cigar shops, art galleries, and fruit markets. As a bonus, there are many Cubans who live there and who are happy to share with us their Latin-Cuban culture.

The Walkway of the Stars is also a must to explore during your trip to Miami. It pays tribute to the great names of Latin American culture, such as Gloria Estefan.

Besides this picturesque and typically Cuban area, culture is everywhere in Miami. Indeed, the city is dotted with museums and art galleries devoted to art and history, such as the Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA), and many others.

Miami is also the perfect place to attend an outdoor concert, see a play, and watch a flamenco or salsa show. Moreover, it is not uncommon to come across a few stars, as many of them are regularly there on business or to perform or, like you, as tourists.

In short, Miami is a vibrant city full of activities and attractions. Whether for the beach, dining, shopping, or nightlife, no doubt you will find what you are looking for and will return delighted that you chose Miami for your vacation.
